Day 2-4
Best of the Costa Brava
The magnificent Costa Brava is a glorious stretch of reddish coastline covered in pines indented with tiny, sandy coves. Your hotel for two nights is just a stone’s throw from one of the loveliest calas, near the pretty town of Begur, and is set in a charming Catalan farmhouse surrounded by gardens.
The restaurant serves the freshest local seafood, which you can enjoy out on a candle-lit terrace. You’ll be able to take scenic cliff walks to picturesque seaside towns such as Sa Tuna and explore medieval villages like Pals and Peratallada.
There’ll be time to simply soak up the sun on one of the gorgeous local beaches, and enjoy a languid lunch with sea views in whitewashed Tamariu. We’ll also make reservations for a romantic dinner at one of our favourite restaurants in Begur, tucked away in the medieval warren of streets. -
Day 5-7
Fishing villages of the Emporda
Your home-from-home over the next three days is one of the finest small spa hotels in Catalonia, located right opposite the beach in the beautiful Empordà region. This elegant, eco-friendly hotel also boasts two outstanding restaurants, where you can dine on local specialities.
This area is ideal for exploring on two wheels, and there are plenty of flat, easy bike routes which wind past vineyards and meadows to lovely villages built of local stone.
You’ll also visit L’Escala, a former fishing village which has expanded into a sizeable resort, but remains well known for its outstanding local seafood, particularly its anchovies, which are justly famous throughout Spain. The highlight will be a private boat trip from Roses around the Cap de Creus, a wild and magnificent headland where the wind has scoured the rocks into surreal shapes. This was the landscape that inspired Salvador Dalí, who lived here for many years.
A magnificent lunch featuring arròs caldós amb llamàntol (a succulent rice dish with lobster) will be served at a beachfront restaurant overlooking one of the most beautiful and unspoilt beaches on the Mediterranean.

Day 8-10
Cadaques and the Cap de Creus Nature Reserve
Cadaqués is an idyllic whitewashed town perched right at the tip of the Cap de Creus headland, surrounded by a breathtaking coastline which is now a protected nature reserve and marine reserve.
You’ll be checked in to your sunny room at your hotel overlooking the beach, and can enjoy a drink on your private terrace as you consider what’s in store over the next few days. You’ll be given a special guided tour of Dalí’s surprisingly intimate and inviting home-cum-museum which occupies a series of fishermen’s cottages in the tiny bay of Port Lligat, dive in the translucent waters of the Cap de Creus marine reserve, sunbathe and swim in spectacular coves, and hike across the wonderful, windswept cliffs of this enchanting headland.
Cadaqués has long attracted artists, drawn by the beautiful light, and the little town is packed with art galleries and chic boutiques, as well as a fabulous range of restaurants and tapas bars. We’ll have reservations ready at our pick of the town’s eateries, where you’ll tuck into everything from ultra-fresh seafood to contemporary dishes prepared by former chefs at Ferran Adrià’s legendary El Bulli restaurant.
