Salvador Dali's House and the stunning Cap de Creus peninsula

Beautiful coastlines, charming fishing villages, and surreal landscapes await you on this tour of Cadaques, the Cap de Creus headland, and Salvador Dali's unmistakable house on the shores of the beautiful bay of Port Lligat. Enjoy a day filled with art, nature, and culture that offers a deeper understanding of the world that inspired Salvador Dalí. The tour also includes a delicious seafood lunch on the seaside terrace of one of Cadaques' best restaurants.

The tour begins at Dalí's house in Port Lligat, a fabulous maze of interconnected rooms filled with Dali's surrealist art works, personal artefacts, and the creative spaces where he brought his artistic visions to life. From the gardens, home to some more of Dali's works, there are breathtaking views of the bay, a scene that inspired so much of his art.

From there, it's a 5-minute drive to Cap de Creus, a striking natural park at the easternmost point of the Iberian Peninsula. Your guide will take you through its rugged landscape, sculpted by wind and sea, the shapes of which feature in many of Dalí's surrealist creations.

The tour continues to the charming fishing port of Cadaqués, whose whitewashed houses and narrow streets are a haven for artists and dreamers alike.

After your relaxed lunch of delicious fish and seafood caught that day, you have time to explore Cadaqués at your leisure. Visit local galleries, shop for some local artwork, or wander and enjoy a drink or coffee on the picturesque waterfront.

    Salvador Dali's house

Your tour of Salvador Dalí's house in Port Lligat offers a fascinating glimpse into his life and eccentric genius. The house, a labyrinthine structure built over the decades from several fishermen's cottages, is filled with the original art, furniture and decoration that reflect Dalí's unique artistic vision.

The unique array of objects includes a taxidermy polar bear, oversized mirrors, and custom furniture. Dalí's studio has a north-facing window looking out onto the bay of Port Lligat, where he satisfied his creative process. At the same time, personal spaces like the bedroom and library reveal more of his and Gala's private lives.

Numerous sculptures and installations, including an egg-shaped terrace, a signature of Dalí, are scattered throughout the gardens. The swimming pool, presided over by the goddess Diana and bordered by Pirelli tyre advertising, resembles a surreal hammam with a shaded area and playful ornaments. The tour of Dali's house is an excellent way to gain some insight into his art and what inspired it.

    Cap de Creus

On the Cap de Creus tour you explore this unspoilt peninsula. Located at the easternmost point of mainland Spain, it is the wildest and most beautiful stretch of the Costa Brava.

Renowned for its dramatic beauty, the peninsula is a windswept expanse of rugged cliffs, secluded coves, and crystalline waters. Its unique geological formations, sculpted by centuries of wind and sea erosion, create surreal shapes that have inspired artists and visitors alike, including Salvador Dalí.

Declared a natural park in 1998, Cap de Creus is a haven for various flora and fauna, including some rare Mediterranean species. The only way to tour Cap de Creus is on the hiking trails that crisscross it, from which you can enjoy incredible views of the turquoise waters and the distant Pyrenees.

The lighthouse at Cap de Creus is a popular spot for visitors, providing stunning vistas of the coastline. Tramuntana winds from the Pyrenees sweep this landscape, embodying Catalonia's wild and untamed spirit.

    Cadaques

Cadaqués, on Catalonia's Costa Brava, is a beautiful Meditteranean fishing town of whitewashed buildings renowned for its artistic legacy.

Its origins date back to ancient times, with Phoenicians, Romans, and later medieval settlers occupying the town. The narrow, cobblestone streets and whitewashed houses reflect its long history as a fishing village, once isolated from the rest of the world due to its remote location.

In the early 20th century, Cadaqués became a vibrant retreat for artists, most famously Salvador Dalí, who spent much of his youth here and found inspiration in its dramatic landscapes. Over the years, the town's natural beauty and historical charm have attracted many other prominent artists, writers, and intellectuals.

On a tour of Cadaques, you can explore the town's rich history and architecture, including the Church of Santa Maria and its many museums and art galleries. Each corner of Cadaqués tells a story, from its early seafaring roots to its role as a centre of creative expression.
