For this tour, we drive you out of Barcelona to spend a night at Montserrat to experience the monatstery when the visitors have gone home.
Montserrat has been a working monastery for nearly 1000 years, and in the evening and early morning you can experience the abbey and the mountain the way its founding monks intended all that time ago, as it reverts to its primary function as a place for peaceful contemplation and meditation.

You arrive in the afternoon and have a private guided tour of the monastery, that takes in the basilica with its iconic Black Madonna and its museum, which houses one of the most important art collections in Catalonia.

After your tour of Montserrat you can see the famed Escolania boys choir sing evening vespers in the basilica, a ceremony that takes place every evening

Your stay at Montserrat’s comfortable hotel includes a gourmet dinner with wine pairings in Abat Cisneros, its atmospheric 16th century restaurant.

The next morning you take the funicular railway up to the top of the mountain, where you can visit some of the old hermitages used throug the centuries and enjoy the unbeatable views of Catalonia and on a clear day, Mallorca.

We collect mid-morning and you are back in Barcelona for lunch. Or, if you prefer to spend the day exploring Montserrat there are plenty of walks to shrines and chapels on the mountain and we can arrange for a mountain guide who knows all about the history of Montserrat to accompany you. We collect you at an agreed time for the journey back to Barcelona.
